“You could call my style Britt realism. It has a certain simplicity and a clean look. I hope my work gives people some joy or helps them remember there’s a bigger picture, that nothing is as it seems. I’ve always painted. I’ve considered painting my main focus since my 20s. “Formally trained” sounds like I’m housebroken, which I am. I’ve been to obedience school too. Art kind of teaches you. Whether you’re in school or not, art is the teacher. In addition to painting, drawing and sculpture I create collage art in bright colors with lots of detail. I started with collages by playing around with construction paper and glue stick about 20 years ago. The medium is so malleable you can’t go wrong. I think the collages are very happy. I like to make people happy. It doesn’t mean I’m always happy but creating makes me happy. I just said ‘happy’ four times. El Zócalo Coop Art Gallery in Las Vegas, New Mexico is one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. It’s a beautiful place that has allowed me to make a living with my artwork. I believe art is everything; I hope to inspire people to make their own art at any ‘level’; without judgment. The artist always gets to play god. I no longer think about the fact that I’m the world’s greatest artist.”
